| “Hummers & Heucheras Day” is Saturday, May 23. Look for the display of plants that attract and feed hummingbirds, including one of our favorite perennials, heucheras. Your grandmother knew them as “coral bells” and they are still as essential to any garden now as they were in her day. Learn how plant breeders have changed this old, reliable plant in size, color, and form in “Introducing the New Heucheras” at 11:00 and 1:00. All plants for hummingbirds will be on sale. We’ll have free handouts to help gardeners plant a “Hummer Garden.” There are many flowering shrubs, perennials, climbers, and colorful annuals that supply nectar for these fascinating flyers. Any item in the Barn Gift Shop with a hummingbird on it is 20% off. |
